Weeks 1–2
Pain
Calm the joint down.
Hands-on techniques and gentle movement ease inflammation and take the edge off joint pain, starting your very first visit.
What We Treat
The stiffness when you stand up from the couch. The twinge that decides whether today’s a good day. It’s fixable, and it starts with a cause-first evaluation, not a guess.

Why It Happens
Arthritis, most often osteoarthritis, develops as the cartilage cushioning your joint wears down over the years, letting bone move closer to bone and the joint become inflamed and stiff. Genetics, past injuries, years of joint overuse, and extra body weight all speed that wear along. But how much it actually limits your day usually comes down to something more fixable: weakness in the muscles that support the joint, and stiffness that builds up around it.
That’s why “it’s just arthritis” is rarely the full answer. It takes a real, cause-first evaluation to find exactly which movements and weaknesses are driving your pain today, so treatment targets what’s actually limiting you instead of treating the joint as a lost cause.
The Honest Truth
Nobody regrets starting too early. Every week, someone in our clinic says they regret waiting.
How We Fix It
Every plan has an endpoint. Here’s what the four phases look like for arthritis.
Weeks 1–2
Pain
Hands-on techniques and gentle movement ease inflammation and take the edge off joint pain, starting your very first visit.
Weeks 2–6
Prime
Targeted mobility work restores range in the stiff joint that’s been quietly guarding against pain.
Weeks 6–10
Perform
Progressive strengthening around the joint shares the load that worn cartilage alone can’t carry anymore.
Weeks 10+
Prevent
Stairs, kneeling, and getting up off the floor get tested under real conditions before you’re cleared to go all-in: that’s the endpoint, not just another appointment.
They are all friendly and nice, and they helped me a lot. Everybody has been very kind and helped me feel better. I appreciate them a lot.

Questions, Answered
Not to the degree you might think. Arthritis describes wear in the joint, but how much it limits you usually comes down to the strength and mobility around that joint, both of which respond well to the right movement. We start with a hands-on evaluation to find exactly what’s driving your pain and stiffness, and build a plan from there. A diagnosis isn’t a life sentence to less activity.
Yes, in most cases movement is one of the best things for an arthritic joint. Staying still lets the muscles supporting the joint weaken, which shifts even more load onto the worn cartilage. The key is dosing the right movement for your specific joint, which is exactly what a physical therapist sorts out at your evaluation, then progresses safely as you improve.
Most patients feel meaningful change within 4–6 visits. A full plan for arthritis runs through all four phases, Pain, Prime, Perform, and Prevent, typically over 8–10 weeks, building strength and mobility you can maintain long after. Either way, you get a plan with an endpoint: you’ll always know which phase you’re in and what’s left, not an open-ended string of appointments.
