Weeks 1–2
Pain
Calm the spinning down.
Specific repositioning techniques and hands-on care start calming vertigo, often within your very first visit.
What We Treat
The stiffness when you stand up from the couch. The twinge that decides whether today’s a good day. It’s fixable, and it starts with a cause-first evaluation, not a guess.

Why It Happens
The most common cause of true spinning vertigo is BPPV, tiny calcium crystals in your inner ear that get displaced into the wrong canal and trigger brief, intense spinning with certain head movements. Other cases trace back to broader inner ear or vestibular dysfunction, migraine-related dizziness, or medication side effects. Whatever the source, your brain often starts compensating in ways that make you feel unsteady even between episodes.
Guessing which of those it is rarely works. It takes a real, cause-first evaluation, including specific positional testing, to determine which inner ear canal or system is actually involved, then treat it with the right repositioning maneuver or vestibular rehab program instead of just waiting for it to pass.
The Honest Truth
Nobody regrets starting too early. Every week, someone in our clinic says they regret waiting.
How We Fix It
Every plan has an endpoint. Here’s what the four phases look like for dizziness and vertigo.
Weeks 1–2
Pain
Specific repositioning techniques and hands-on care start calming vertigo, often within your very first visit.
Weeks 2–6
Prime
Targeted habituation and gaze stability exercises retrain your brain to tolerate motion without triggering the spin.
Weeks 6–10
Perform
Progressive balance and strength training rebuilds the stability your system lost while you were compensating.
Weeks 10+
Prevent
Head turns, quick movements, and real-world triggers get tested before you’re cleared to go all-in: that’s the endpoint, not just another appointment.

Questions, Answered
Usually not, most dizziness and vertigo comes from the inner ear’s balance system, something a scan won’t show but a hands-on vestibular evaluation will. Specific positional testing can tell us within your first visit which inner ear canal or system is involved. If anything ever points to a bigger concern, we’ll help you get the right imaging. You don’t have to live with the spinning while you wait on a referral.
Yes, and controlled, guided head movement is actually part of how we resolve it. Avoiding all head motion tends to make your system more sensitive to it over time, not less. A physical therapist uses specific repositioning techniques and gradual exposure dosed to your system, so you build tolerance safely instead of avoiding it forever.
Most patients feel meaningful change within 4–6 visits, and true BPPV often resolves in just one or two visits with the right repositioning maneuver. A full plan for dizziness and vertigo runs through all four phases, Pain, Prime, Perform, and Prevent, depending on what’s actually driving it. Either way, you get a plan with an endpoint: you’ll always know which phase you’re in and what’s left, not an open-ended string of appointments.
